Why this matters

When someone asks an assistant for "the best hotel in Puerto Plata" or "a studio that builds internal portals in Madrid", the assistant answers from pages it could read. Almost every AI crawler fetches raw HTML and does not run JavaScript. A site built as a single page app can look perfect in a browser and be a blank page to them.

What the radar checks

  • The words each crawler can read on the page, with no JavaScript
  • Title, meta description, H1 and heading structure
  • Structured data (JSON-LD) and which schema types are present
  • Canonical URL, declared language and hreflang alternates
  • robots.txt rules for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and Googlebot
  • Whether /llms.txt and /sitemap.xml exist and are valid
  • Open Graph image and whether the page is indexable at all

What it does not do

It does not crawl your whole site, it does not test performance, and it does not tell you your ranking. It answers one question honestly: can an AI assistant read this page and know who you are.

Questions, answered

Is the AI Search Radar really free?
Yes. It runs in your browser against a public page, needs no signup and stores nothing. Polargate built it because the check is quick and the answer is usually uncomfortable, which is a good reason to talk.
Why does my site score badly when it looks fine?
Because your browser runs JavaScript and AI crawlers mostly do not. If your content is rendered on the client, the crawler sees an empty shell. The fix is to serve real HTML for every route, through static generation or server rendering.
Does blocking AI crawlers protect my content?
It stops you being cited. Blocking training crawlers is a legitimate choice, but blocking the search bots (OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot) removes you from the answers people are already asking for. Decide each one separately.
What happens after I run it?
Nothing automatic. You read the result. If you want the fixes done, a full audit with a prioritised remediation plan starts at 1,500 euro and is credited in full against the work if you go ahead within 60 days.
