PolarRabbit keeps Teams green

How it works

Microsoft Teams marks you Away (yellow) after about five minutes without keyboard or mouse input. PolarRabbit keeps track of how long your Mac has been idle. After one minute it moves the pointer by one pixel and back. You will not see it move, but it resets the system idle timer, so Teams keeps you Available (green).

While you are working it does nothing. The hare in the menu bar hops each time it acts.

While it is on, PolarRabbit also keeps the display from sleeping or locking because of inactivity. A locked screen makes Teams show you as Away anyway.

What the panel does

Click the hare in the menu bar to open the panel.

• A button to switch it on or pause it
• How long it runs: always, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours or until 18:00
• How many times it has hopped today
• How long it has kept you green
• A switch to open it at login

Right-click the hare to switch between on and pause without opening the panel. On macOS 26 the panel uses the Liquid Glass design. PolarRabbit works on macOS 14 and later, on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, and its interface is in English and Spanish.

Permissions and privacy

PolarRabbit needs the macOS Accessibility permission (System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility), because macOS only lets an app move the pointer with that permission. It does not type, it does not read the screen and it collects no data. It only goes online for its own updates: once a day it checks polargate.ai, and when there is a new version it downloads it from Polargate's file storage.

Updates

Updates download and install by themselves. Each update is signed, and the app only accepts updates signed by Polargate. The app itself is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

If your Mac is managed by your employer

Check your company's rules before you install it. A work Mac may have its own policy about which apps you can install.
